With the heat in full swing, and August coming up, you don’t want problems with your HVAC. Daikin HVACS are sort of a budget option, so they do have some problems — this troubleshooting is specifically for a Daikin split system.
Ideally, in the summer, you want to have the Daikin set to “dry” instead of “cool”, because dry provides adequate cool and much more air conditioning than the simply cold setting. Also, it’s a lot cheaper, because the system isn’t constantly pumping refrigerant through it.
The problem I ran into was this: On regular settings, dry mode only allows a weak automatic fan setting. To get it to rapidly cool and dehumidify a room, you need to hit the “Strong” button (the muscle guy) to get it to kick out air and start really working (which it will only do for twenty minutes, which is a pain in the ass, but you can set it back to automatic after you cool down).
Here’s the fix I found. Set both Daikin remotes to dry mode, automatic. No Strong setting. Turn the units off (do this one unit at a time). Give it a second or two, turn it back on, and hit the Strong button. Within about three minutes you should be getting steadily blown air. It’s just a minor glitch in the remote-to-HVAC connection, or possibly some strange sensor in the HVAC. I’m not sure.
But the above method works. If you have anything to add, know why the problem happens, or have a better solutions, please tell me. As it stands, this is my only fix for the Daikin not producing good airflow in dry mode with Strong turned on. Good luck.
