Puffco Peak Pro Red and White “Flashing Lights of Death” Fix (this *works*)

Okay, so I finally picked up an electronic dab rig a month ago to try to catch up to the times and save a little money — I find concentrates go further. Anyway, I grabbed a Puffco Peak Pro, which really is a solid device, except for one problem — it is fond of flashing red and white lights at you which indicate an atomizer disconnection/problem and not working.

There’s an easy fix for this. You should have tweezers; the dab tool is usable if not. I’ve read all over the Internet different fixes for this problem, but I swear, this really should work for you. Get a tray or a paper towel or something and put the atomizer upside-down on it. This is for the 3DXL, by the way, but I believe the other Puffco atomizers connect the same way. You will see three small pins set in a rubber strip. The middle one is gold; that is the most important one. Be aware the center pin, and, I believe, the side pins (but definitely the center pin) can come out easily, so be careful when you do this. That’s why the tray, the paper towel, whatever — in case you pull one of the pins out, especially the center one. I did by accident on my first try and was able to get the thing back in fairly easily, but it could very well get lost on the floor or something.

Now, first just clean the pins with some isopropyl on the outside. Next, take the tweezers, or the dab tool, and very, very gently lift up the pins a tiny tiny bit. The center one comes right up; the side ones do as well, I believe (I only keep repeating about the center one because that one definitely comes out and definitely pretty easily, so do this with care, again). When I say lift up, I mean, just a tiny bit. Just a tiny bit. Pry under the pin very gently. Or the pin will come out on you. If it does, don’t panic; get the tweezers (this is why I recommend tweezers and not the dab tool) and set it back where it was in the rubber strip. It will take some work but you’ll get it back in.

That’s it. You’re done. If you do this every time you reattach the atomizer — you’ll get used to it and not knocking the pin out — you will never see those damnable red and white flashing lights again. Just lift those three pins on the bottom of the atomizer about a quarter millimeter, at most. Boom. You’re done.

Also, very quickly — I’ve seen all over the Internet “how to not chazz” your 3DXL or whatever atomizer you have. This is my experience — the thing chazzes. It just does; it’s ceramic. Soak in isopropyl for twenty minutes, swab once, and then gently but firmly scrape the inside clean with a dab tool. Preferably the one Puffco gives you. Just work at it a bit, and the ceramic bowl will be clean within a short time. Keep up the isopropyl, too.

You gently lifted all *three* pins, and you cleaned the ends of them with isopropyl? Also, the Puffco *will* flash red/white if you extend your session too long (like past four boosts). This method continues to work for me. Swab the contacts on the main unit, too, and soak everything in isopropyl for an hour or so and then let thoroughly dry for several hours, if that doesn’t work. If all else fails, you may just have a defective atomizer. It happens.
