Latest on my mother’s tumor (malignant)

Ah, okay, my mom got her biopsy results back today for the tumor on her kidney, and it’s malignant. Typing this out because I don’t want to have to keep explaining the same story to people over and over. All we know right now is the next step is probably cryogenic freezing…surgery and some radiation may be down the line, but for now, cryogenically freeze the tumor and let it dissolve in her system. From what we know, the cancer has not spread, but we have a more detailed call with the doctor coming tomorrow; I’ll post an update after that. For now, we just get to the next step as soon as possible. Like I said, treatable, guys, so don’t write my mom off — she’s one tough bitch. 🙂

The Specials — Too Much Too Young

Woot, throwing this up here because it’s personally relevant to me at the moment, LOL. Plus I just love the song and ska in general.

Spicy Tomato Jewelry

Hey, in passing here, I threw up a post related to Keb earlier, and I really should be nicer here; remember there are two sides to every relationship. Anyway, point is, besides being a full-time tech career woman, on the side, she makes really great jewelry on her own and sells it through her website at Spicy Tomato Jewelry. Hey, perhaps if I had bought her something like this instead of a poster for her birthday, things would have worked out better. 🙂 Seriously, though, this is very well-done, tasteful, inexpensive stuff. Trust me, she knows what she’s doing with the jewelry. So, again, pay Spicy Red Tomato Jewelry a visit!

How Very Conservatrarian of You, Senator Rand Paul

Old news by now (a day, lol), but, hey, listen up GOP old guard — move *aside*, we need someone like Rand Paul to do this. And consider running for president. Coming from: a conservative, with strong small-l libertarian inclinations, a touch of Hitchens contrarianism (and skepticism), who’s younger and most likely smarter than a good bunch of you older establishment issues types. So — Senator Graham, you are a dithering moron, and I hope to God you get knocked off by a conservative — Senator McCain, I voted for you, I have the utmost respect for you as a war hero, but you were yet another in a long string of old moderate “next-in-line” disappointments for the GOP (latest installment being Willard). Enough! We will have a conservative in 2016, I tell you.

Nice opening salvo, Senator Rand. I salute you. Now listen to this and think about your next move. This was a rather nice shot across the bow. Right. Crank and continue, good people.

P.S. A heck of a lot better than Rubio at the SOTU. 😉

Missing girl from Wareham is fine

Apparently, from what I just read, that missing teen from Wareham (Kelly Weislow, or something? Look up the post I have, updating it) is okay. Here:

Hello,

Wareham Week does not publish stories about missing persons until we are able to confirm with police that an individual is indeed missing.

Wareham Police Lt. Kevin Walsh confirmed this morning that this young woman is safe, at a relative’s home in Florida.

Thank you,

Jaime

Open letter to Google

Dear Google:

I like you guys. I really do. I was using Google before anyone else I knew, and have used it exclusively since. But lately, I’ve been hanging while doing Google searches on my PC, and all evidence points to it being your problem, and not mine, and I’ve actually had to use Bing two or three times. You get what I’m saying here. Keep it snappy, guys — all the bells and whistles can come later. Take care.

Sincerely,
Random ’70s-born Internet Guy

Roast in Hell, Hugo Chavez

Oh, man, what good news to wake up to (yeah, I keep weird hours):

(CNN) — A deeply divided Venezuela is mourning its late leader and preparing to pick a new president to replace him.

Venezuelan officials called for peace and unity after President Hugo Chavez’s death on Tuesday, emphasizing in state television broadcasts that all branches of the government and the military were standing together.

Ding dong, the prick is dead!

Missing 14 y.o. girl from Wareham, MA **UPDATE: GIRL IS FINE**

This is an earlier post regarding a missing girl from Wareham. Am taking her picture down because she has been found. Think the scare was a bit premature, but, came from a friend, so, etc. But below is a posting I found from a Wareham newspaper just now.

Hello,

Wareham Week does not publish stories about missing persons until we are able to confirm with police that an individual is indeed missing.

Wareham Police Lt. Kevin Walsh confirmed this morning that this young woman is safe, at a relative’s home in Florida.

Thank you,

Jaime

My mother and the kidney tumor…

Er, my mother is going in today for the needle biopsy, for the tumor on her kidney. So if you could spare a moment to shoot up a prayer to the entity of your choice, or just shoot some good vibes her way…she’s very panicked. All the news we’ve gotten up to now has been nothing but positive, but she’s convinced she’ll have to go on chemo and lose her hair (she doesn’t care about dying; she does care about losing her hair — um, I know her priorities are a little messed up, but, all the same, if you have a spare moment?)

SNL: “Prose and Cons” (aka KILL MY LANDLORD)

Sigh. You see, this is what Saturday Night Live used to be like. Someone call me when it’s this funny again.

Without further ado, I give you Eddie Murphy and the Not-Ready-For-Primetime-Players in one of their finest hours:
