Enabling 30-second DVR skip on the new Comcast DCX3400 box

Dug this up. Here you go.

First:

1) Select Aux
2) Hold Setup 2 flashes
3) Enter 01376 2 flashes

Next:

1) Select Aux button
2) Hold SETUP, 2 flashes
3) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SETUP
4) Enter 00173
5) Tap CABLE, then button to be programmed (triangle is a good one), 2 flashes

Make sure on step 5 you hit the Cable button first before triangle.

Congratulations, you can now skip 30 seconds ahead on recordings using the triangle button (or whatever you chose).

    Thank You

At last my DCX3400 remote is programmed for 30 second skip.

  2. Kip says:

Glad I could help! That 30 second skip is really useful, isn’t it?

  3. John Farrell says:

Any idea how to enable Picture in Picture on a Comcast DCX3400M?

  4. Kip says:

Unfortunately — and I’ve looked this up a number of times — I don’t think Comcast supports PIP at all. The box may support it, but it’s not going to work with Comcast. I know there’s a PIP button on the remote, but that’s cuz it’s a universal remote. As far as I know, Comcast has never offered PIP.

Let me know if you find out differently!

  5. John Farrell says:

Kip, I had Comcast installed Wednesday, 10/27. You are correct, no PIP. If you ever find out how to enable it, please let me know.

  6. Kip says:

You have my word, if I ever find out a way to get PIP working on a Comcast box, I will post it ASAP.

  7. andy says:

Dude, you are a lifesaver, seriously. Thanks.

  8. Kip says:

Really glad I could help. Yeah, the 30-second skip just *obliterates* commercials, doesn’t it? Especially if you map it right below the 15-sec rewind button.

  9. Christina says:

YAY! The cable guy neglected to tell us the AUX part of it….so my husband went back to our old remote for the new box just for the 30 sec forward. So much better to use the new, faster remote!
    Thank you!

  10. Christina says:

PIP…I think it might depend on your TV?

  11. Kip says:

It depends on the TV *and* the cable provider. Your TV has to be capable of doing PIP, which is fairly common, but the service provider has to offer it for you to be able to use it. Currently, Comcast dos not offer it.

  12. Kip says:

    Glad I could help!

  13. Dennis Lewan says:

You’re the man, I’ve been looking all over and tried the old way about 3 times thinking I was doing something wrong. THANKS!

  14. Kip says:

Hey, thanks, bro! Yeah, I originally put up the instructions because it took *me* forever hunting around to figure out how to do it. Anyway, enjoy your 30-second skip!

  15. claire says:

Comcast does offer PIP but, it doesn’t work on the Motorolla boxes. It works in areas that have Scientific Atlanta boxes (with Comcast) which are currently in parts of Florida and NM to name two.

  16. Kip says:

Excellent find, Claire! I assume you don’t mean the *old* Scientific Atlanta boxes, because I have one of those in the house and it certainly doesn’t do PiP. It’s the only box other than a Motorola I’ve ever seen. Hope your info helps some people. Personally, I don’t care about PiP; hell, I use the TV more for gaming than watching TV. Thanks again, Claire!
