Vonnegut’s dead, uh, yeah.


Someone wrote that Kurt Vonnegut is dead and I should write something. Okay. Here:

Kurt Vonnegut is dead.

I never cared for Vonnegut. I found his writing to be turgid, and even Slaughterhouse-Five bored the crap out of me.

So he’s dead. Whatever. Move along.

    I recently read Galapagos. It was my first experience with the man.
    I was unimpressed.

    Yeah. I will admit that I enjoyed Slaughterhouse-Five, but not *all* that much. Vonnegut was a medium-grade writer, in my opinion — how he leaped into the canon as a literary legend escapes me.
